We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team of a growing international technology organization.
In this role, you will help build and operate the core backend services supporting a financial claims and payments platform. You will work across API services, cloud infrastructure, serverless data-processing pipelines, and relational databases to develop reliable systems that process claims, manage payment instructions, and integrate with internal systems and external partners.

Experience in financial services, payments, claims processing, or fintech.
Experience with CloudFormation or other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
Docker and Docker Compose experience, particularly in multi-service local development environments.
Experience with SFTP, email-based integrations, file processing, Excel/data extraction, or external data feeds.
Experience working with event-driven or file-based integration architectures.
Experience supporting systems with strict auditability, security, or compliance requirements.
Familiarity with observability and production support practices.

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Kotlin/Java and Micronaut, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks.
Build backend functionality supporting claims workflows, payment instruction validation, and API gateway routing and authentication.
Develop and maintain Python-based AWS Lambda functions for data processing, email processing, file transfers, data extraction, and third-party integrations.
Design, write, and review SQL and database migrations using PostgreSQL and tools such as Flyway or Liquibase.
Work with multi-schema database environments and understand dependencies between schemas, views, and database functions.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and work with JWT-based authentication and authorization.
Diagnose and resolve production issues using application logs, monitoring tools, health checks, and database investigation.
Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
Maintain CI/CD quality gates, automated testing, and static code analysis.
Collaborate with engineers and frontend teams on API contracts and service integrations.
Participate in application deployments using cloud infrastructure and version-controlled release artifacts.
Contribute to technical improvements, system reliability, and engineering best practices.
8+ Relevant Experience as Backend Engineer
Strong professional experience developing backend applications using Kotlin or Java.
Experience with a backend framework such as Micronaut, Spring Boot, or a similar framework.
Working knowledge of Python, particularly for serverless, automation, or data-processing workloads.
Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience.
Experience with database schema migrations using Flyway, Liquibase, or similar tools.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly:

ECS / Fargate
CloudWatch
SES
Cognito
Secrets Manager
Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Understanding of JWT authentication and authorization.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions or equivalent.
Familiarity with automated testing and static code analysis tools.
Experience working with Git and modern software development practices.
