Position Summary
The Healthcare Virtual Assistant–Nurse provides remote administrative and clinical-support services to physicians, clinics, and other healthcare organizations. The role uses nursing knowledge to assist with patient communication, medical documentation, care coordination, insurance verification, and follow-up activities.
The employee must work within the approved scope of the position and must not independently diagnose, prescribe, interpret results, or provide treatment unless legally authorized.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Communication and Coordination
- Answer patient calls, emails, and portal messages professionally.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
- Conduct appointment reminders and authorized follow-up calls.
- Collect and document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and allergies using approved protocols.
- Coordinate referrals, laboratory tests, diagnostic procedures, and specialist appointments.
- Communicate provider-approved instructions and educational information to patients.
- Escalate urgent symptoms or clinical concerns to the appropriate licensed provider.
Nursing and Clinical Support
- Review and prepare patient charts before consultations.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and prescription-refill requests for provider approval.
- Monitor pending test results, referrals, and follow-up requirements.
- Support chronic-care management and patient-monitoring programs.
- Conduct authorized post-consultation or post-procedure follow-ups.
- Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, laboratories, hospitals, and insurance providers.
- Recognize potential medical emergencies and follow the required escalation procedure.
Medical Documentation
- Update and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Prepare draft progress notes, medical summaries, referral letters, and patient instructions.
- Upload laboratory results, medical reports, and supporting documents.
- Review records for completeness and identify missing information.
- Document all patient, provider, pharmacy, and insurance communications accurately.
- Assist with medical coding and documentation review when qualified and assigned.
Insurance and Billing Support
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and patient benefits.
- Assist with prior-authorization and referral requirements.
- Submit supporting clinical documentation for provider-approved requests.
- Follow up on authorization and claim status.
- Support billing teams with required patient and medical records.
- Record insurance reference numbers, outcomes, and next steps.
Privacy and Compliance
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and company information.
- Follow HIPAA, data-security, and client-specific privacy requirements.
- Access patient records only when necessary for assigned duties.
- Use approved systems and secure communication channels.
- Immediately report documentation errors, privacy incidents, or security concerns.
- Complete all required compliance, system, and client training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing qualification.
- Active nursing license is preferred or required depending on the client.
- At least one year of nursing, hospital, clinic, or healthcare experience.
- Experience as a Healthcare VA, Medical VA, or healthcare BPO employee is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and clinical workflows.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record or electronic health record systems.
Pay: Php15,000.00 - Php25,000.00 per month
